Day 4 – Summer Camp Diary

July 28th, 2010 by KiralyTeam received No Comments »

The relaxing day, with all the fun of the paintball and soccer party, had a very good effect on the guys so they could jump into the constant fighting during the trainings today. Both group (women and men) were discussing the mistakes and the useful, powerful techniques after every session so the fighters could have an instant feedback. But truly the most interesting part of the day was the common video analyzing seminar in the evening. All the 100 fighters gathered in the dojo to view the youtube matches selected by Istvan Kiraly and interactively discuss the mistakes and possibilities of the potential opponents of themselves. As it is usual in the KiralyTeam Summer Camp, Drew was very active during the talk and shared his very useful ideas, so as did Joe, Miriam and Szilárd. This talk proved again that the future way of the pointfighting is the mental power and the ability to analyze your opponent before fighting in order to find those opportunities for scoring. This skill is not easy to attain, but possible for everyone who is really interested in the high level of pointfighting.

Day 3 – Summer Camp Diary

After two days of hard work the guys really deserved a relaxing day, so we set up a nice social program for them including thermal bath, paintball and soccer cup. In the morning most of the tired pointfighters chose the sleeping and rather skip the breakfast, so as the thermal bath. However a few early birds with Zsolt Moradi were relaxing their body in the local medical water and came back with smooth face. The afternoon paintball was much more popular as almost everybody woke up to get some lunch around 1 p.m. The absolute winners of the first round were the Israeli guys who were ruling the game with only headshots, however GB and Canada hung on for a while, there was no chance against them. In the second round the Bulgarian Elite Gang was fighting against the KiralyTeam Commando… a real paint-slaughter : ) The evening program was a pretty relaxing soccer cup with random teams, where everybody became so thirsty that we had to go out to grab some drinks. Wasn’t taking so long, because tomorrow is training day again, starting at 7:15…

Day 2 – Summer Camp Diary

After the warming up and conformity of the first day, today we really entered into the hard work. The general approach of the camp, besides the constant analysis and feedback, is to develop both the stamina of power and the condition and reach the highest power-speed and the satisfying level of stamina during the encyclical sessions of fighting. We have done plenty of different exercises so we had a good view on our shape. In the afternoon session we had time to enter into different fighters’ styles personally and discussed publicly. Ksenia Guralnik (RUS) was fighting with Andrea Busa (HUN), Emanuel Dimitrov (BUL) with Szilard Kardos (HUN), Drew Neal (GBR) with Tomas Hobling (AUT) and Laszlo Gombos (HUN) with Jack Evans (GBR). As you can see on the pictures Drew was very active and commented the workshop with very useful thoughts. At the end of the guys’ training we added an extra effort and do some cruel but very useful strengthening exercises with rubber ropes and heavy balls. Tomorrow is resting day…

Andrey Kotov about the Russian Pointfighting

April 27th, 2010 by AndreyKotov received 1 Comment »

In this article I would like to say a few words about semi-contact in Russia in general and to introduce the blog users with the present situation in this division in our country. Now pointfighting is extensively developing in Russian Federation and is quite popular among kickboxers.

Speaking of combative divisions in kickboxing that are being cultivated in Russia many people would justly notice that Russians are traditionally strong in the ring and usually associate Russian kickboxing with the names of our ring-champions. This may be determined by the fact that in our country there has always been the famous old-school boxing system and many of our stars in a kickboxing ring are students of the coaches of that Soviet system. Russians were almost obscure in other divisions. But taking into consideration semi-contact, it is interesting to observe that on the basis of a combative karate style this very division gave birth to the developing of kickboxing in the USSR in far 1990. But almost at once the priorities in divisions were shifted to ring events when boxing specialists came to kickboxing.

The second birth of semi-contact happened not long time ago. As recently there appeared a man named I. Yurov who didn’t come to be indifferent to destiny of Russian kickboxing and to the thing that notwithstanding very good results in the ring and in light-contact, semi-contact being the most interesting and grassroots division was at a very low level in Russia. And his idea was to catch up and to support this lagging division as it is really safe, the least harmful, free-for-all in the context of age, sex, physical grade and a rather spectacular one. Today we are at a primary stage of implementation of this idea but semi-contact has already begun to be developed on the territory of Russia: new clubs have appeared; new sections and departments have been opened in region federations as a new division has risen. It was found out that Russians are familiar with this challenge, drive, explosion that is peculiar to pointfighting all over the world. I am looking forward that soon our sportsmen will be recognized at the international arena.
